An Alliance project, the We Campaign, is offering five solutions for stopping global warming, and solving the climate crisis.

The We Can Solve It Campaign claims that 1,489,954 concerned citizens have joined to support stopping global warming, and the goal is to have fossil fuel-free electrical energy in 10 years. The Alliance provides links to 17 Grassroots Partners, and lists the names of 16 Advisory Committee members. All claim commitment to five major climate solutions.

Wind Energy, Solar Energy, and Other Renewables

This solution project is designed to break the U.S.'s dependence on oil, coal, and other fossil fuels by converting to renewables. The Alliance claims the United States has already added enough wind energy to power more an 1,000,000 homes. Texas is listed as the most progressive state with 15% of electricity generated by wind energy. The projection is that Texas will have the necessary resources to provide the U.S. with one-third of wind-powered electrical assets. New Jersey and California are cited to have initiated programs to install solar panels on new construction. Geothermal power, from hot rocks underground, is suggested due to improved geothermal technology.

New Jobs and Accommodations for a Clean Energy Economy

The belief is that by converting to a clean energy economy, millions of new jobs will be created resulting in billions in revenue. The call is for business to convert from fossil fuels, and for leadership from elected officials. The Al Gore website recently announced that the Massachusetts legislature approved the Global Warming Solutions Act. Dissent, by way of anonymous email feedback, is published on the bottom of this page, one writer commenting in early August 2008, “...Massachusetts is going right down the toilet. Liberal politics are alive and well...”

Citizen Support for Clean Renewable Energy, Public Transportation

The Personal Choices page, in the Solutions site, states “...When we solve the climate crisis, it will be because of regular people like you and me. It will be because we... took a stand and demanded that our leaders make stopping global warming a top priority...” The page content appeals to the public to make a personal choice to use electricity from renewable resources and use public transportation.

Energy Efficient Buildings, Cars

By increasingly improving household appliances, cutting greenhouse gas emissions from buildings, and implementing more fuel efficient transportation the We Can Solve It Campaign hopes to eliminate “...2 billion ... tons of carbon dioxide “...more than 6,000 times the weight of the Empire State Building!” To achieve enhanced energy efficiency the advice to the public and business is to buy efficient technologies, cut energy wastes at home, while driving, and at work. The goal is for energy efficiency to become a normal daily practice for everyone.

Innovative Leadership Emulating Martin Luther King & John F. Kennedy

This solution points to Martin Luther King, John F. Kennedy, as icons of innovative leaders. Al Gore and associates' call is for leaders in the political and business arenas, as well as concerned citizens to use their influence to solve the climate crisis.

The five solutions for “Adoption of Renewables, Clean Energy Economy, Personal Choices, Enhanced Energy Efficiency, and Innovative Leadership” seem to be making a difference. The evidence, presented by the We Can Solve the Climate Crisis Campaign, are announcements of new clean energy legislation and fossil-free technological energy advances.

We have a lot of wind turbines close to our area. A little town close to us is manufacturing the blades and then close to Denver they are going to make other things for the turbines. Great articles. Sylvia
